Bombogenesis

This morning we had a flood warning. Lots and lots of rain predicted. Suddenly the new storm is being touted as a snow spewing “bombogenesis.” That’s a new one on me. Even so, the most they can wring out of it (so far) is about 6 inches. That’s six inches more than I want to see, but a bombogenesis sounds as if it should dump considerably more than six inches. Not that I’m complaining about only six inches, in the scheme of things. Still, it would be nice to see spring flowers and happy spring birds instead of more snow and arctic temperatures.
The robins look pitiful—and miserable—huddled around in their fluffed up feathers and the mockingbirds have stopped singing their spring mating songs today. Maybe they’ve given up in disgust, too. No matter what their internal clocks say, spring is just not in their immediate future. Or ours.
