A tree would be nice

Well, I believe summer arrived with a bang today. It’s 90° outside and I can feel every degree of it. What a nice sea breeze wouldn’t do for the wilted body right about now. The weather report says high humidity, but we’re only registering about 47%, which is not high for this area. In fact, that would be quite low—and a blessing not to be underrated.
Today is also the first day that I’ve turned on the air conditioner. That would likely not be necessary if there was a tree growing to shade the house. There is a volunteer sugar maple tree growing out in a corner of the back yard that could soon find itself transplanted closer to the house. I could cherish it and nurture it and hope that it ‘takes’. Of course, fifteen years would have to pass before it could provide any shade for the upper storey. They only grow about one foot per year. What I need is an instant tree.
Developers and contractors who chop down every tree in sight, when building houses, need to be forced to live in those houses for a while. They’d get the picture quickly.
