The Thanksgiving Dinner shopping is now out of the way. I’m glad that I went this afternoon because tomorrow the every place will be mobbed. There were plenty of people out today, but at least it was manageable. And no one was fighting over the last turkey at the grocery.
So, I have lots and lots and lots of apples (Cortland and McIntosh), bananas, flour, lemon juice, butter, and shortening. And carrots. I think that’s all I need for my part of the dinner prep. Except for the cinnamon, which I forgot. Oh, and some milk for the pie crust. It’s tradition to forget something. I’d better go back later tonight. I don’t think I can face the frantic mobs tomorrow. The best place to be will be off the road.

We had snow today, which was a surprise. Not very much—just a dusting. But it was festive and pretty. It wasn’t quite cold enough for it to stick to the pavement, so driving was easy. No first storm of the season fender benders. It seemed to put everyone in a good mood. There were many folks discussing the snow with absolute delight. Unlike the later storms where everyone is glum and just plain sick of it. The first flakes are always exciting.

My laptop shipped today. It would have gone out yesterday afternoon, but my credit card company put a hold on the transaction and never got around to notifying me until last evening. They wanted me to verify the transaction to make sure my card wasn’t stolen. I don’t make large purchases on my credit card very often, so I guess it was enough out of the ordinary to trip the ‘possible fraud’ alarm. Or maybe it’s a just a seasonal thing. In any case, that delayed the arrival date by a day. Kind of disappointing. I’d have received it on Wednesday if the transaction had gone through properly.
On the other hand, that might be a good thing. It would be rather distressing to have the distraction of a new laptop sitting in its box while I’m supposed to be baking and preparing for Thanksgiving dinner—and then canning applesauce the following morning. So...Friday afternoon is good. Please, please, please let it arrive on Friday. I’ll go nuts if it doesn’t get here until Monday!
